Hi, I'm Amy

I'm a Level 3 personal trainer and fitness instructor, with an additional qualification in pre and post natal exercise - but that doesn't really tell you who I am or why I do what I do.

I am a weight neutral, health at every size personal trainer - in short I believe that everybody and 'every body' has the right to move in a way that feels comfortable to them, to gain strength, confidence and genuinely enjoy exercise!

My story has shaped my way of training others.

When I began my own fitness journey, I had a terrible relationship with my body, food and exercise. I was 60kg heavier than I am now, which lead to fear of stepping into a gym as I felt uncomfortable exercising around others. I lacked confidence and feared judgement.

I decided I was going to get 'healthy', but after losing my weight through a well known weight loss group which only taught me restriction around food rather than how to eat for enjoyment, I developed an eating disorder, believing that by under eating and over exercising I was doing what was best for my body. My confidence and mental health were at an all time low.

Slowly, I rebuilt my relationship with food, exercise and my own body. It became clear to me that PHYSICAL and MENTAL health go hand in hand - it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, so long as you feel great mentally and physically and you enjoy what you're doing.

 

It was then I decided that I wanted to become a personal trainer, to allow others to feel good about their own self image without the media message that usually comes with exercise 'move your body to change it'. Focus on the benefits that exercise brings mentally, emotionally and physically rather than just making it all about body weight and size.

My ethos is simple;

Happy body, happy mind, your way.

It doesn't have to be about weight loss.

It doesn't have to be about changing your body.

IT doesn't have to be about having a goal.

It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Moving your body really can be joyful!

 

Your reasons for exercising are your own - I'm just here to help you along the way. Its not a quick fix or a one size fits all approach, its learning about each individual, what works for you, to listen, to give advice, guidance, support and hopefully help you to find a way to move your body that makes you thrive and feel great!

Sessions are available both online or in person, giving you the flexibility and comfort to train in the environment that best suits you.

The membership offers a variety of workouts, including weighted and bodyweight strength workouts, HIIT, cardio and Tabata classes just to name a few!

FLEXIBLE FITNESS

Options to access one off classes, or two shorter 25 minute home workouts per week for those who have a busy schedule but still want to fit in some 'me' time.

Again, these include a range of routines including strength and bodyweight workouts, weekly body conditioning workouts and higher intensity cardio classes.

PRE & POST NATAL TRAINING

Both exercise during pregnancy and after giving birth can be nerve racking. Wanting to move your body but not knowing the best way to do so can put you off exercising - let me help.

My additional qualification in pre and post natal exercise has allowed me work with women to feel confident during a time when their bodies feel somewhat alien to them. Regular exercise has helped them (and me during my own pregnancy!) to feel stronger and more confident, as well as allowing them to understand the physical changes their body is going through. 

Breathless? Thats due to increased blood flow. Pelvic pain? Thats the hormone relaxin increasing relaxing the connective tissue around your joints.

Its both fascinating and empowering to learn more about your new 'mammy' body - whether its baby number 1 or number 4, pregnancy is different every time!
